White Rolls-Royce Ghost outside a city building

Most couples know which car they want long before they know how long they need it for. The Rolls-Royce is easy. The schedule is the part that catches people out, because a wedding car isn't a single trip. It's a sequence of moments, and the hours add up quickly.

This guide walks through how a wedding car booking runs on the day with Prestige Luxury Rentals, how to work out the hours you actually need, and when a second car makes sense.

How a Standard Wedding Package Works

Our standard wedding packages cover three to four hours of service, with extensions quoted by the hour. Inside that window, the classic flow looks like this: the ribboned car arrives at the bride's house for first photos, takes her to the ceremony, then on to the reception, with the photo stops your photographer has planned in between.

Every wedding booking includes a chauffeur in appropriate dress, ribbon service (white as standard, other colours available if you specify when booking), the car detailed to show standard on the morning, chilled water in the cabin, and direct liaison with your photographer or planner.

Building Your Timeline

The easiest way to work out your hours is to write the day backwards from the reception. Here's an example for a 3pm ceremony. Your times will differ, but the shape is the same.

Building Your Timeline
TimeWhat's happening
1:45pmCar arrives at the bride's house, first photos with the car
2:30pmDepart for the ceremony
3:00pmCeremony
3:45pmCouple departs for location photos
5:00pmArrival at the reception

That example already uses most of a four-hour booking once you allow for the chauffeur's arrival buffer. Add a second pickup, a long drive between ceremony and reception, or a sunset photo stop, and you're into an extension.

Where the Extra Hours Come From

Couples rarely underestimate the ceremony. They underestimate everything around it. The common culprits:

  • Distance between the ceremony and reception venues
  • Location photos at a second site, especially golden hour shots
  • Collecting the bridal party from more than one address
  • Running late, which every wedding does a little

If any of these apply, build the time in from the start. Extending on the day is always possible to ask about, but planning it in advance means your chauffeur's schedule is built around it.

When You Need More Than One Car

Roughly half of our wedding bookings involve more than one vehicle. The usual reasons are simple: the bride and groom leave from different places, the bridal party is bigger than one car, or the couple wants a different car for the getaway.

The combinations that get booked most:

  • Rolls-Royce Ghost for the bride, Mercedes G63 for the groomsmen
  • Rolls-Royce Cullinan for the bride and a full bridal party, Lamborghini Urus S for the groom
  • A matching Ghost and Cullinan for a unified Rolls-Royce look

Multi-car packages are quoted as a bundle, and we offer discounted multi-vehicle rates for weddings, so ask when you enquire rather than booking each car separately.

The Groom's Supercar

Some grooms want the car to be part of their day in a different way: they want to drive it. Self-drive supercars like the Lamborghini Huracán, STO or Tecnica are booked for exactly that, usually for the getaway or the morning after. Self-drive is subject to the usual age and licence requirements, and drivers under 25 are chauffeur-only. If anyone is celebrating with a drink at the reception, the self-drive car should stay parked until the next day.

When to Book

Saturday weddings in peak spring (October to December) and peak autumn (March to May) book out nine to eighteen months ahead for the most-requested cars, the Rolls-Royce Ghost above all. Winter weddings from June to August are noticeably easier and often bookable two to four months out.

If your date is within six months, call us. We usually have options even when a specific car shows as unavailable.

FAQ

How many hours do most couples book?

Most weddings fit a standard three to four hour package. Weddings with distant venues, a second photo location or multiple pickups usually need an extension.

Can we add time on the day?

Extensions are quoted by the hour. It's always better to plan extra time in advance so the chauffeur's schedule allows for it.

Which car is best for a big dress?

The Rolls-Royce Cullinan. It's the car couples choose when the Ghost isn't spacious enough for the dress or the bridal party.

Can we choose the ribbon colour?

White is standard. Other colours are available, just specify when you book.

Do you do weddings outside Melbourne?

Yes. Wedding cars run across Melbourne, Sydney and the Gold Coast.

Booking

Wedding bookings need a deposit to lock the car, and all deposits and booking payments are non-refundable, so confirm your date first. Phone 0423 300 901 or email bookings@prestigeluxuryrentals.com.au, or read our complete luxury wedding car hire guide for the full overview.
